A few more bargins

We had gymnastics again today (we have a budding gymnast in the family so we spend a lot of time at the gym). I just wasn't in the mood to spend another few hours just sitting there. That sounds horrible I know, but in my defense I love seeing her practice and spend lots of time watching her. I drove a few minutes to a shopping center that I'd forgotten was so close. And was glad that I did.

There were a few stores, but the only interesting ones for me were Staples and Sears Essentials.
At Sears they had a bunch of clothes on clearance and an additional 40 to 50 % off, which is my favorite way to shop.
1 white and pink long sleeve Cheetah girls shirt $2.49 (original price $26.00)
1 blue long sleeve shirt with extra straps & glitter $2.49 (original price $26.00)
1 boys Henley shirt $2.09 (original price $14.00)
1 Disney princess nightgown $3.59 (original price $22.00)
1 Disney 2 piece pj set $4.79 (original price $28.00)
So I spent $16.46 for $116.00 worth of clothes ($123.54 after tax).
I'll put the Disney pj's and nightgown away for Christmas gifts. As I write that it sounds pretty cheap, but I'll also get them something that they really want off their list. Which I will no doubt have to pay full price for so it will even it out. So some great deals and a start on holiday shopping!
No picture for the Staples stuff, I have three children who are very excited to start school and started packing their backpacks the minute I came home. What I was most excited about was the fact that it is Wednesday and Staples was fully stocked with all the great deals of the week.

I purchased

2 packs of 12 pencils .79 each

2 pack of staples composition notebooks .50

2 pack of staples composition notebooks .50

2 pack of staples composition notebooks .50

2 packs of wide ruled paper .50 each

6 pack of wide ruled notebooks .30

6 pack of wide ruled notebooks .30

6 folders -2 pocket $free$

With tax my total was $4.99. As I checked out I was chit chatting with my cashier, who was so nice, helpful and respectful. When I was done he made me go back and get 10 more folders and rang them up for free also. You can get 10 free per checkout as long as you don't abuse it.
What a difference nice sales people and cashiers make. I would also bet that if he had to deny me a coupon he would have done it nicely and with respect. This won't be my last trip to Staples.

McDonalds deal

I'm sure that I've dropped the ball on this one (don't forget I'm fairly new at this), but I figured I'd share it anyway. We don't do much fast food at all, but yesterday I was at work all day, then had to clean a model home that I take care of once a month and was just exhausted. Then I remembered that the McDonalds in our area has happy meals for $1.69 on Tuesdays, so we had a treat. The kids were thrilled (they had apple dippers instead of fries so I felt a little better about what they were eating) and it didn't cost us much at all. I have no idea how long this will go on for, or if it's available everywhere, but it's worth checking out.

I did it!

O.K. I did it, I emailed Publix. It took me a while to get my thoughts right and not sound like an irrational shrew, but I tried to be calm, cool & collected and I think I did a pretty good job. I received an email from Kim S. and she wrote to Publix a few weeks ago regarding an eerily similar situation and she hasn't heard back from them yet so I'm not too optimistic. I feel better that I got it out so we'll see what happens.
